Brood Alpha Broodling (1)

Broodlings, a vicious Brood offshoot evolved on a different path from the common Pud, have always been frenzied and difficult to control even for the most enhanced of Broodspawn leaders. It requires large amounts of attention and resources to keep a Broodling pack from going completely feral – or just one Alpha Broodling. The Alpha Broodling is the Brood Mere’s special creation designed to control the Broodling strains by focusing on their bestial natures. Created larger, tougher and far more aggressive than the baseline species, Alpha Broodlings instinctively take control of groups of lesser Broodlings while remaining genetically loyal to the Brood Mere’s commands. 

Like its smaller brethren, Alpha Broodlings are roughly spherical abominations of muscle, chitin and teeth. Having evolved a few additional limbs to support its heavier body, Alphas also have additional ropey tentacles sprouting from it that it uses to whip out at targets that have yet to draw nearer to its deadly maw. Filled with rows upon rows of chitinous “teeth”, an Alpha Broodling’s bite can shear entire limbs from its victims with a single snap. Sometimes these bites happen so fast that its prey doesn’t see it coming until they are already down an arm or leg!

Alpha Broodlings are individuals used in Brood forcelists to lead packs of Broodlings across the buffet that is any battlefield they have been released upon!
