The Florentine Carroccio 1260
Carroccio was for the Italian cities of the communal period, in the thirteenth century, the symbol of power and grandeur of the town. It was carried into battle, or at least the most important and over it were placed the flags of the city and those of allies. It was defended by an army of noble knights and knaves that constitutes the basis of the Carroccio and had their signs. On the battlefield was a point of reference for the army from which you give orders to the sound of a trumpet. Was defended to the death and the loss was the defeat of this army. The structure had to be more or less the same for all of the various Italian cities Carrocci although certainly we have nothing. Unfortunately, the document comes down to us are very few. The only representation is on a chronicle of Giovanni Villani half of 1300 from which I am most of the information for the creation of this model.
This Kit contains the wagon, four oxen, an oxen driver, two trumpeters, an officer, and the Florentine flag. Can be completed by the Carroccio Guard by the following blisters BME026 Infantrimen with lance , BME027 Archers and crossbowmen, BMEC033 , BMEC034 , BMEC035 florentine noblemen knights.
